Teen Titans #8 Review

We are in part 2 of this 4 part series, Wally West is in shambles mentally after learning that his father was the reverse flash. Feeling as though Barry Allen has betrayed him by keeping his father’s identity from him he is starting to doubt who he can trust outside of his teen titan companions. He meets a stranger who is having car troubles and stops to help him. I suppose no job is too big or too small for our young hero. He helps the stranger and they click taking a short drive and grabbing a bite to eat. Warning full spoilers ahead.
We cut to the Teen Titans Tower where everyone is concerned about the tardiness of Kid Flash. Not often a speedster is a late right? Robin decides to let the team know that he is tracking all of them at all times. He even has some surveillance on the Justice League as well. Not only is Kid Flash missing but Barry Allen is also MIA. When he tries to locate Wally, he realizes he has been betrayed, by Nightwing. He confronts Nightwing only to find that not only was his assumption correct but now it has been revealed that Nightwing has made some kind of deal with Deathstroke. The tension is high between the Titans and their Teen counterparts but there are more important matters. Like finding the missing speedsters.

We find Deathstroke in an unknown location and he has captured two Wally’s. Seems Barry was hiding more than we thought from Kid Flash. Deathstroke takes off his mask and reveals himself to be Slade Wilson. The same man that Wally had helped earlier in the story! He tells Wally he needs his help to travel back in time to save his son and thus undoing all the carnage he has brought to the world over the years. Slade reveals that his suit will help him stay stable as they zip back and he shows Kid Flash the destruction that had led to making him what his he today. Being young and naive Wally agrees to help, but it appears he has been quickly deceived. The Teen Titans and Titans show up to rescue the speedsters only to find they are too late. It appears Deathstroke’s suit did more than help. It’s now harnessing the power of our young hero! I HATE CLIFFHANGERS. COME OOOON PART 3!!!

There is so much going on in this 4 part series that it has me on the edge of my seat. Deathstroke has always been one of my favorite villains. His portrayal in this particular series although a little more PG than I would like is still well done. I really love the artwork, it’s clean and crisp. With so many talented artists and writers involved with this series, I can’t wait to see what the rest have to offer!
