Issue #48 of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps starts off re-personifying Tomar-Tu. We get a bit of narration where he recalls being a child and listening to his father tell him stories of the Green Lantern Corps. This was a nice touch because it reminds you that there is still a person deep down (or Xudarian, you catch my drift). For the rest of the issue the fight between Green Lanterns and Darkstars intensifies. There is fighting on Mogo, where Tomar-Tu is leading an attack to get to the sciencells, and there is fighting in space sector 0001 where the Darkstar base is. Just when fighting back seems futile for the Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Hector Hammond leave us on one heck of a cliff hanger.

Venditti delivers again. I really like how he brought this mash up of heroes and villains together. It’s like back in the day when you’d talk to your friends and argue about what would happened if a given group of heroes teamed up. As I was reading this, I also thought it was cool how cooperative Zod was being because that’s not much like him. It’s nice seeing the other side of different characters.

All in all, this issue was action-packed! Tons of fighting, lots of pretty colors and explosions, incredible artwork, Guy driving a monster-truck-ring-construct… I mean geez, what more could you ask for? Hats off to Robert Venditti for always always always delivering a reliably fantastic read. Include this in your pull for the week.
