Back in January, Ben Affleck stepped down as director of the upcoming solo Batman film. Initially, this was a big blow for many fans, as the film was said to start filming in the Spring. After some time looking for a new director, fans regained hope when Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) was confirmed to step in as the new director of the project.
Since then, news about the film has been quiet due to Reeves’ commitment to completing his work on War for the Planet of the Apes. But now that he’s done with that film, he’s getting ready to start work on the Batman film.
In a recent interview (interviewer unknown at time of publication), Reeves was asked about the Batman project and Ben Affleck’s involvement. Here’s what he had to say:
“I finished [War for the Planet of the Apes] about 8 days [ago], so literally we’re only now beginning.”
When asked if Ben Affleck would keep his role as Batman, Reeves responded, “Yeah! Yeah, I mean right now that’s exactly what’s going on.”
