Zack Snyder is Stepping Away From ‘Justice League’ Due to Family Tragedy

Director Zack Snyder announced today he will be stepping away from ‘Justice League’ and will be handing the film over to Joss Whedon to complete. Unbeknownst to the general public, Zack and Deb Synder have been struggling through the loss of their daughter since March of 2017.

This news is not only shocking, but truly tragic to hear. We will be keeping the Snyder family in our thoughts and prayers.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Snyder stated that he originally wanted to try to finish the film, but the gravity of the loss was too much, and he decided he needed to be with his family in this time. “In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it,” Snyder said. “in the last two months… I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me.”

President of Warner Bros. Pictures, Toby Emmerich, also released a statement of support for the Synder family as well as some details on how Justice League will move forward:

“What they are going through is unimaginable, and my heart – our hearts – go out to them” Emmerich said. In regards to Whedon taking over, he made it clear they are “not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes.”
