Joss Whedon, best known for his work on Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron is reportedly in talks to direct a Batgirl film for Warner Bros.
According to an exclusive report from Variety, Whedon will also be writing and producing the film if the deal is made.
Batgirl has been a key member of the Bat-family since her introduction in the Batman TV series in the 1960’s. This wouldn’t be her first time on the silver screen; however, as she had a role in the infamous Batman & Robin film in the late 90’s.
The majority of upcoming DCEU films are based in Batman’s universe, so Batgirl has plenty of opportunities to make an appearance on screen before her solo film debut. David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens, Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and Chris McKay’s Nightwing are all viable options.
We can expect to hear more official news on his as San Diego Comic Con approaches. But for now, who would you cast as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl? Tell us in the comments below!
