Yet another Annual this week featuring Hanna-Barbera crossovers with DC characters. Where we find Booster Gold in 25th century Gotham, where crime is extinct, but so are all of their animals. Booster is on a date when aliens attack, reluctantly the citizens of Gotham look to Booster Gold for help. To learn why the aliens are attacking Gotham, Booster goes back in time to their first visit to the planet. Naturally, this is where Booster Gold meets The Flintstones on his adventure.
While it is fun to see the worlds of Booster Gold and The Flintstones collide together, this largely feels like a Booster Gold comic. With The Flintstones being a small piece of the puzzle. We do get to see a lot of Bedrock as a background throughout the comic, however, that is about it. Fred, Barney, and Wilma being the main characters we see here felt largely bland and could have been anyone if not for their iconic look.
That’s not to say that the story here was bad, just that it was 90% Booster Gold and 10% people that look like The Flintstones. With plenty of humor and quips it was still a fun read from beginning to end. With plenty of memorable moments, like Booster getting a $10 donation from the Wayne Foundation. Overall a fun read and worth your time if you’re a fan of Booster Gold.
